§ 198-1. Definitions.

  • As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
    ACCESS
    To approach, instruct, communicate with, store data in, retrieve data from, or otherwise use the resources of a computer, computer system, or computer network.
    COMPUTER
    An electronic device that performs logical, arithmetic, and memory functions by the manipulations of electronic or magnetic impulses, and includes input, output, processing, storage, software, or communication facilities which are connected or related to a device in a system or network.
    COMPUTER NETWORK
    The interconnection of communication lines with a computer through remote terminals, or a complex consisting or two or more interconnected computers.
    COMPUTER PROGRAM
    A series of instructions or statements, in a form acceptable to a computer, which permits the functioning of a computer system in a manner designed to provide appropriate products from the computer system.
    COMPUTER SOFTWARE
    A set of computer programs, procedures and associated documentation concerned with the operation of a computer system.
    COMPUTER SYSTEM
    A set of related, connected or unconnected computer equipment, devices and software.
    SHARED INFORMATION NETWORK CONSORTIUM (SINC)
    The management information system created by Inter-Local Governmental Agreement entered into by the City of Rockwood on February 1, 1999, pursuant to MCLA 124.501 to assist participating communities in the assembly, retention and retrieval of law enforcement data.
